First, check which font it uses
Open the document and look at the font name of the Punjabi text. Anmol Lipi, GurbaniAkhar and Gurbani Lipi use the layout this converter knows. Asees, DrChatrik, Joy and some others put letters on different keys; this converter would give wrong letters for those, so do not use it for them.
Work in parts
Select one page or one section, copy it and paste it into the converter. The Unicode result appears straight away. Copy it into a new document and set the font to a Unicode one such as Noto Sans Gurmukhi or Raavi. Bold, tables and pictures are not carried by copy and paste, so re-apply formatting in the new document.
Leave English parts out
The converter treats every English letter as an old-font key, so English words, email addresses and web links inside the Punjabi text would be turned into Gurmukhi. Copy around them, or fix them afterwards.
Read the result once
The letter table was checked on 700 Punjabi words in both directions, but old documents often contain personal habits — a different key for a symbol, a hand-placed mark. Read names, numbers and dates carefully. In the writing box, Check text helps find marks without a letter and doubled marks.
Keep both copies for a while
Save the Unicode version under a new name and keep the old file until you are sure nothing is missing. If someone still needs the old font for older software, the converter can also turn Unicode back into Anmol Lipi text.
Convert your document text
Paste the old-font text, choose the direction and copy the Unicode result.
