Everyday life · A practical writing project

Say It Once. Send It Clearly.

A good message sounds like you and makes the next step easy. Start with the thought you would say aloud; then turn that thought into something your reader can act on.

A starting point

Give your message one job

Before starting the microphone, decide what you need: a reply, a meeting confirmation or a quick update. Dictate that point first. A friendly greeting can stay, but a reader should not have to search a long paragraph to discover your question.

Keep the warmth; trim the wandering

Speak naturally, stop and read the draft. Remove repeated openings and unfinished thoughts. Keep expressions that belong to your voice. Editing a message does not mean making it sound like a formal letter.

Make the details usable

Replace “later” with a day or time when you know it. Check names, numbers and locations manually: recognition can produce a plausible word that is still the wrong detail. If the time is undecided, ask rather than inventing it.

Try two sentences

Use one sentence for context and another for the request. Put separate questions on separate lines. Copy the reviewed text into your messaging app and check the recipient and line breaks before sending. Bol Ke Likho prepares the text; it does not send the message for you.

Your words, ready for the next step.

Start small. Review the meaning. Keep a copy.
