Turn a Spoken Thought into a Study Note

Explaining something aloud reveals what you understand. Instead of copying a whole paragraph, make a small note with a question, your explanation and an example.

Explain before organising

Read a small section of your source, put it aside and explain the idea in your own words. Dictate a short draft. Mark anything you cannot explain as a question to revisit instead of filling the gap with a guess.

Give the note a question

A question such as “Why does this happen?” is more useful than a heading that only says “Chapter three.” Keep the book, lesson or page reference beside the note so you can check it later.

Separate the idea from the example

Write a compact explanation, then give one example on another line. Verify technical terms, equations and numbers against your source. Speech recognition can help capture words, but it cannot check whether your explanation is correct.

Make a recall box

Finish with three lines: the main idea, the detail you tend to forget and one question still unanswered. Cover the explanation and try answering the question aloud before your next revision session.

Keep one topic per file

Name downloaded notes by subject and topic. For work submitted to a class, follow its rules about citations and assistance. A personal dictation draft still needs your review before it becomes a final answer.

Your words, ready for the next step.

Start small. Review the meaning. Keep a copy.
