Sharing your work · A practical writing project

One Draft. Three Ways to Share It.

The right format depends on what happens next. A quick reply, a document someone will edit and a finished reading copy need different ways of sharing.

A starting point

A quick reply → copy text A draft someone will edit → Word-compatible document A copy meant for reading → PDF

For a conversation, copy the text

Copy the reviewed draft into your message or email. Check paragraph breaks and the recipient. A two-sentence reply usually does not need an attachment.

For changes, keep it editable

The Word-compatible download is an HTML-based .doc file, rather than a native .docx. Open it in your document editor, check formatting and save in the format your recipient requests. Keep an editable master for later corrections.

For a reading copy, use the print view

Choose PDF or Print and, where available, Save as PDF. Inspect the browser preview for clipped lines, page breaks and Gurmukhi characters before saving. Print controls vary between devices.

For your own backup, save text

A Unicode text copy is useful when appearance is less important than keeping the words. Browser storage belongs to that browser and device and may be cleared; it is not a permanent backup.

Send the right version

Label unfinished documents as drafts. If you correct the editable master, export a fresh PDF too. Check that the person receiving it can open the chosen format, especially when sending to a phone.

Your words, ready for the next step.

Start small. Review the meaning. Keep a copy.
