Bol Ke Likho Start writing

Everything you can do with Bol Ke Likho

Speak Punjabi or Hindi and watch it appear in Gurmukhi or Devanagari. The writing box is free and needs no account. A free account adds saving, titles and listening.

  1. Open the writing box and pick Punjabi or Hindi.
  2. Press Start speaking and allow the microphone.
  3. Correct, add punctuation, then copy or download.

Free for everyone, no account

Open the home page, choose Punjabi or Hindi and press Start speaking. Your words are written at the cursor, so you can stop, correct a name with the keyboard and carry on. A danda (।) is added when you pause at the end of a sentence, and a row of punctuation keys puts । , ? ! and quotation marks exactly where the cursor is. A counter shows words and characters as you go.

Editing tools that stay out of the way

Find & replace fixes a name that was heard wrongly everywhere at once. Two fonts — a clear one and a classic one — are available for each script. Clear has an undo, so an accidental press does not cost you a page. Punjabi and Hindi are kept as two separate drafts in your browser, so switching language never mixes them.

Take your writing with you

Copy the text into WhatsApp or email, or download it as plain Unicode text, a Word-compatible file, or a PDF through your browser’s print dialog. Because the PDF is made by the browser itself, Gurmukhi and Devanagari letters and matras are shaped correctly.

With a free account

Registering takes a minute: you type your email and we send a six-digit code — there is no password. After that the writing in the box follows you to any phone or computer, you can give each document a title and keep it in My documents, and Read aloud will speak your text back to you with pause, speed and voice controls. These extras are free during the current promotion.

What it does not do

Voice typing needs an internet connection and a browser with speech recognition — Chrome on Android or on a computer works best. Recognition is good but not perfect, so always read names, numbers and dates before sending. There is no mobile app in the stores yet; the website works in the phone’s browser.
